About John Tsialos

John Tsialos is a Melbourne-based fine artist and freelance photographer specializing in photojournalism, wedding documentation, travel editorials and offbeat, contemporary portraiture. His couture photo art is well known around inner-city Melbourne’s boho community, with John’s work noted for its unnerving, yet warm and striking style.

After twelve years of honing his craft and hiding his talent from the outside world, JTP - a one-room freelance hub based in Thornbury -  was founded in 2010 and is run solely by John - one of Melbourne’s best kept secrets.

JTP is fast gaining a reputation for its urbane style and reflective adhesion to modern life; merging the obscure and confronting with olde world classicism.

Each photograph is shot with John’s sharp eye for elegant compositions  and his almost other-worldly talent for capturing that millisecond where meaning and pathos flourish and dissipate instantaneously. His compelling collections take you on journeys that are personal, factual yet none the less phantasmal or engaging.

Available for commissions, John is adept at capturing life for editorial, personal, communal or commercial use with the one outcome always assured. Quality, tasteful, shrewdly observed imagery from the eye of the lens.

STYLE & INFLUENCE

John’s style fuses classic black and white portraiture with an almost punk sensibility, encapsulating postmodern life in all its naked abandon whilst maintaining respect for the oldest and finest techniques.

With reference to his favourite artists Jan Saudek, Ellen von Unwerth and Nick Brandt, John cites life itself as the greatest initiator of inspiration and arrives keenly at each occasion he is commissioned to photograph.

With his incredible eye for the aesthetic and masterly techniques, John makes each and every one of his photographs stand alone as singular artworks. His modest presence, urbane style and enduring love for his craft is fast making him one of the hottest photographers around.

John is a Canon-lover using a variety of capture lenses and specializes in black and white exposures while experimenting with color, particularly for wedding shoots. His finished works are printed on rag paper and are available as framed or unframed prints. John is also able to assist you with quality enlargements, canvases and professional albums on request.
